Fun facts about Baguio pine trees

HERITAGE TREES. As the number of Baguio pine trees dwindled, Baguio City District Representative Mark Go filed House Bill (H.B.) No. 7090, or “An Act Providing for a 10-year Moratorium on Tree Cutting in the City of Baguio and Other Purposes,” last 2020. The bill aims to preserve and protect trees all over the city. The local government also declared Baguio pines as “heritage trees” to further strengthen the city’s conservation efforts. The Baguio pine trees are more than just for aesthetics but play a vital role in the environment. It prevents land disasters and serves as home to various kinds of birds. It also has a fair share of health benefits by acting as a natural air purifier and deodorizer with effective properties against lung diseases and inflammation.
